Vertical and Horizontal integration of different Human Resources activities in the organization?

Horizontal integration: integrating L&D activity with other HR practices so that there is consistency across the whole HR area, with all its activity supporting organisational goals. Horizontal integration is found in the way all HR activities feed into each other and support each other. Such activities as Recruitment & Selection, Performance Management, Reward Management must be tailored is such a way that each feeds into and is in turn supported by the other.

Vertical integration: integrating L&D strategy with overarching HR strategy and with business strategy at corporate and business unit levels. Vertical integration on the other hand refers to the way these HR activities should support and fit neatly with the overall organisational activities. Vertical integration is the key role in linking the goals of the organization. In other words HR activities must also fit and move in the same direction with the organisations mission and vision.
